How does the cloth diaper service work?
Our cloth diaper service is simple, sustainable, and has been trusted by Portland families for over 50 years. Once you sign up on our website, we deliver clean, premium cloth diapers to your door weekly. After use, place the soiled diapers in the provided bag, and we’ll pick them up during your next delivery. Simple!
Do I need to wash or rinse diapers?
Absolutely not. We handle all the necessary treatments, including pre-wash, wash, and drying, at our facility using industrial-grade machines and dryers. No rinsing or shaking is required on your end. Just change the diapers and leave the rest to us!
What makes cloth diapering eco-friendly?
Cloth diapers are reusable, significantly reducing the amount of waste sent to landfills. Additionally, we maximize sustainability through shared washing. By consolidating diapers into industrial-grade machines that heat water up to 200°F, we effectively remove all bacteria, germs, and residue while conserving water and energy. Choosing cloth means caring for the planet while providing the best for your baby.
Are cloth diapers safe for sensitive skin?
Yes! Our cloth diapers are crafted from soft, breathable materials free of harsh chemicals, making them perfect for babies with delicate skin. Many parents switch to cloth to eliminate rashes caused by plastic disposables—and they’re thrilled with the results!
How many diapers would I get?
You’ll have access to 320 diapers in a 4-week cycle, which works out to about 80 diapers per week. Here’s how it works:
- After two initial deliveries of 80 diapers each, you’ll start receiving the number of diapers you return to us.
- For example, if you return 40 diapers, you’ll receive 40 fresh diapers the following week—assuming you still have 40 clean ones from the previous week.
This system ensures you don’t accumulate more diapers than you need when your usage is low!
What do I do when I need a size change?
Babies grow quickly, and we’re prepared for size changes! If you’re on our EcoPlan, you’re entitled to 4 free size changes during your service. Check out our diaper size chart here for guidance on choosing the right size.
I’m expecting a baby—when should I sign up for the service?
It’s entirely up to you, but we recommend signing up at least 4 weeks before your due date. This allows us to set up your account and deliver your first set of diapers 2 weeks before your due date—so you’re prepared even if your baby arrives early. If you decide to start the service right away, we can accommodate that too!
When is the ideal time to start using cloth diapers?
We suggest starting as soon as possible. Many hospitals provide disposables, and it’s common to plan a switch after the newborn stage. However, the sooner you begin with cloth, the easier the transition for your baby.
Here’s why: Modern disposable diapers absorb so well that babies don’t feel wetness, which can make transitioning to cloth harder. With cloth diapers, babies feel the wetness, which encourages awareness and makes potty training faster in the long run. Starting early helps establish good habits from the beginning!
Are there any other items I need to prepare to start cloth diapering?
Yes! Unless you’re on the VIP Package, you’ll need to prepare the following:
Diaper Covers: We recommend 4-5 covers for extra protection against leaks. Plus, they come in tons of cute patterns and colors—this is where cloth diapering gets fun! We sell covers, too, so feel free to reach out at hello@tideedidee.com.
Snappies: These cloth diaper fasteners replace the old-fashioned safety pins. Snappies are safer, easier, and more effective for keeping diapers securely in place.
Diaper Pail: A designated pail for storing soiled diapers until pickup is a must-have for convenience and hygiene.
How does the paper diaper membership service work?
Sign up on our website, select the number of paper diapers you need, and we’ll deliver them to your door weekly. Simply place the soiled diapers in the provided container for us to pick up during the next delivery. We’ll sort and transport them to a Waste-to-Energy facility, ensuring responsible disposal.
Are the paper diapers eco-friendly?
Absolutely! Our paper diapers are designed with sustainability in mind. After use, they’re sent to a Waste-to-Energy facility, where they’re incinerated at high temperatures to generate clean electricity. The mass of the waste is reduced to 1/10th, significantly decreasing environmental impact.
What is the paper diaper brand I am getting?
We currently offer two trusted brands: Bambo Nature and Nest. These brands are approved for processing at our partner Waste-to-Energy facility and have received positive feedback from Tidee Didee parents. The specific brand delivered may vary based on product availability, but rest assured, we only select high-quality, eco-friendly options.
Can I switch between services?
Yes! If your needs change, you can easily switch between cloth and paper diapers. Just contact our customer service team, and we’ll help adjust your plan to suit your family’s requirements.
Can I use both cloth and paper diapers?
Absolutely! Many families benefit from the flexibility of using both services—for daycare, travel, or nighttime routines. If you’re on the cloth diaper service, you can add paper diapers to your plan. All diapers will be delivered and picked up at the same time, and you don’t even need to separate them—we’ll sort them at our facility for processing.
Why is there a membership fee of $36?
The membership fee covers the cost of:
- Weekly pickup and delivery of fresh and soiled diapers.
- Sorting and processing of soiled diapers at our facility.
- Transporting the diapers to a Waste-to-Energy facility, where they are responsibly disposed of and converted into clean energy.
This fee ensures we provide a seamless and eco-friendly diapering service for your family.
Can I adjust my delivery schedule or the number of diapers I receive?
Yes! You can easily manage your delivery preferences through our website’s Customer Zone.
What is the $40 sign-up fee for?
The one-time sign-up fee covers the cost of:
- Setting up your new account in our system.
- Ensuring your address is added to our existing delivery route.
- Processing and making your initial delivery to your home.
This ensures a seamless start to your diapering service!
Do you service my area?
Tidee Didee currently serves the Greater Portland metro area and Vancouver, Washington. Please refer to our service area map for details.
When are deliveries and pickups scheduled?
Deliveries and pickups are scheduled weekly. You’ll receive a notification via email with your assigned delivery day once you sign up.
Tip: Leave your soiled diapers outside the night before pickup to ensure they’re ready by 5 AM.
What happens if I miss a pickup?
If you miss a pickup:
- You’ll receive an email notification.
- A special pickup can be arranged for $40, covering the extra trip and handling.
To avoid this charge, let us know as soon as possible if you’ve missed the pickup—our driver might still be in your area. Alternatively, you can drop off your soiled diapers at our facility during office hours. Email us at hello@tideedidee.com to arrange a drop-off.
Important: Do not leave diapers outside our facility without prior arrangements. Lost items will incur charges for their retail value:
- Prefold Diapers: Preemie/Newborn: $3.50, Infant: $3.75, Regular: $4, Toddler: $4.50.
- Wipes: $2.50/each.
Why do I have to return diapers on a weekly basis?
Weekly returns are crucial to maintaining the quality and reusability of cloth diapers. After a week, diapers may:
- Mold and develop bacteria.
- Become stained or damaged beyond repair.
These issues make the diapers unsuitable for reuse. To avoid damage fees, please return your diapers weekly. If you’ll be away for more than a week, email us at hello@tideedidee.com to arrange special accommodations.
Charges for ruined or unreturned items:
- Prefold Diapers: Preemie/Newborn: $3.50, Infant: $3.75, Regular: $4, Toddler: $4.50.
